so different when you're riding. whatever your size/weight you can either custom build perfection or it exists. as a result i've been through so many boards trying to find utopia. will never buy burton or apo again. seen masses of burton bindings break on the hill. that set of 390's is my second pair. my first pair are still in perfect nick. i got the board from slopestyle in morzine haggling JP in their end of season sale. he told me about the bindings so i tracked the last pair in the universe down in canada - also in the sale for $100 canadian...result. if the piste is choppy though this one is too flappy. need a stiffer freestyle board too for the pow...quiver of 2 should do it. as for saloman, if its good enough for benedek its good enough for everyone.

| | I have nearly 30 boards, and about to take delivery of a couple of next seasons Libs, a TRice with the new CBTX, new Danny Kass, and a Lando Phoenix - i have a hook up with Lib/Gnu in the US, already have next years Gnu Park Pickle witch is basically an asymmetric Skate Banana - been riding Unions too for the last 4 seasons. Been rocking Libs for about 10 years now, but have a couple of Bataleons from the last couple of seasons, a K2 Gyrator for the Pow Pow, always grab a couple of Burtons to see whats up with them, but cant say i like most of em save for my fish, had a couple of Romes too. Got a Yes on the way too, new brand set up by DCP, RDM and JP from the old Uninc team, made in the nidecker factory with some interesting tech |

| | Haha, you wanna see my right lower leg mate, 1 third of it is just a giant frankenstein skin graft scar, its easily ugly enough for me to bullshit that I was involved in a shark attack (which I have done a couple of times, just for kicks :p), but it was just from a car crash I was passenger in way back, joined by a nice skin graft scar on one thigh, and a big train track of a scar all the way down from knee to hip on my other leg, not to mention the countless little ones here and there from bmx over the years. |

1) are you some kind of trustafarian to happy that many rides? you sound too knowledgable for that...sounds like you're in the game (i.e. well connected not whoring yourself) 2) heard about the yes stuff - was really shocked when uninc was axed...thought that was the sickest stuff burton did. didn't know they were ready to go this year though...whats the score with their boards? 3) so if you've got bataleons, you've ridden tpt, bananas, and rockers/cambers. was condsidering a tpt - what out of all this nushit is good and for where...and is this magnetraction noteably different too?

| | Haha yeah my leg was pretty fucked, 4 breaks clean through the femur with about an inch worth of bone turned to dust from the impact lol. Re the bmx thing though, that kinda gap to flat was pretty fucking insane, and you could see in the air he wasn't going to land perfectly, i'm sure there's been equally gnarly gaps done in the past, but if you fuck up the landing just a little bit you're screwed, you could see he was shitting it because he pretty much froze in mid-air and it nothing would have stopped that from happening, biggest I ever managed was a 10 stair I think, and that took a few bitch runs for me to psyche myself up. My old mate pikey mikey managed a 5 flat 5 double set though I think, that was pretty damn sick, he did flare his head tube when he landed though! |

| | coming into this from a skate background..hence the elbow. did a few 12's and a few double sets. bailing is way easier on a board...but riding is easier to get and control speed. learnt my lesson...save up all my years gnarlyness and let it out over 3 snow trips/year...if i'm lucky. snowbombing this year for the first time. |

Ha . . . no just a well connected 30 year old who now earns enough cash to indulge his habit after many seasons of slumming it! There's a lot of new tech out there, and even more to confuse you in the upcoming season - K2 alone have 4 different rocker types in their line. A lot of companies are moving towards having a flat based board with rockered ends, rather than rocker in the middle - K2, Capita and Rome are all going this way, whereas Burton and Lib are sticking with Banana type rocker. Even within the Lib/Gnu line ups the rocker and MTX on each board changes considerably - i have both a Banana 59, and a Phoenix 57 from last season, and the Phoenix has hardly any rocker compared to the Banana, and hardly noticeable MTX. This is because a lot of pros found the MTX too grippy, and in recent years Lib has actually toned it down across the range - also most of the pros dont use Banana boards - the boards you see Travis rice winning big air on in the X Games was a regular cambered board. My favortie board is his normal pro model without BTX but with MTX The thing about rocker is that it makes snowboarding easier, but also lazier, like riding a skate deck with loose trucks - you need to adjust your style to get the best out of it, however for hooning around super fast, you can beat camber, and the Snap it gives you. If you only board 2 weeks a year, or fuck about indoors, then rocker will make your life a lot easier, but on big jumps and icy slopes, camber still rules. However - Libs MTX is what makes their rocker design so good, as it compensates for the loss of camber, by providing extra grip, which is why the more rockered boards in their line up have more MTX. That is why this year Lib has bought out C2BTX, which is basically a board rockered in the middle, with camber in the tips to provide snap and response - the pros are actualy using this tech, and i am looking forward to trying it out. Never Summer do something similar with their rockered boards, which are a great ride. MTX really does work, def worth checking out I am a big fan of the Bataleons - they are obviously super forgiving, and feel very weird when you first ride them, but the tech really does work. Buttering is a piece of piss, but i have landed shit on them that i would have stacked on other decks, Banana included. The thing i really like about them, is that the TBT actually works better than MTX at holding an edge in my opinion. This is because the base is bevelled, so when you crank it onto an edge, you are putting way more pressure through the edge, and getting way more grip, whilst keeping the whole edge in contact with the snow - they carve like motherfuckers! They still retain camber too, so lots of snap - my personal favourites are the Jam and Riot. One area rocker does rule is Powder - My Gyrator shits on anything i have ever ridden in the Pow, unbelievable float both forwards and switch, super manoeuvrable, and still good on the pistes. I havent touched my fish in the 2 years i have had the Gyrator! Yes boards should be good, as the Nidecker, whilst not a cool brand, actually make some of the best boards out there - their Mega and Ultralight boards are the best i have ever ridden for going fast s fuck on the hard stuff, and the use a similar tech to MTX which i believe the Yes boards will have. Any way ii could go on for ages - i know way too much about snowboard tech, sorry if i have rambled on a bit

| | ramble? dude - you were only just getting going!!! woah...so much content will have to consider and get back. initial reaction is that you've confimed my thoughts on the TPT - ride away from more tricks and still hold an edge super good - sounds like the perfect all mountain freestyle. i can believe that about the bananas in the pow but honestly i couldn't bring myself to buy one. just the name sounds like a joke. this C2BTX sounds like a great combination though. i usually buy one board a year, part financed by an ebay sale and always find the decision sooo hard especially when really needing a midwide. sounds like this year will be the hardest of all! alternatively i'll just go riding with you...problem solved |

| | Yeah Union Inverters from a couple of seasons back, though i frankenbinderd them with a Burton suoercapstrap - newer unions have a better toe strap though. ![]() I havent got a pic of my Danny Kass, but i am riding Union Contacts on that which i love, but are a bit soft - next years Union Kass pro model has the contact baseplate with a data high back, should be a sick binding ![]() |

| | nice...that matching B&B kass setup is almost as nice as my rome really love the idea of the unions but the toestrap was a real let down...crushed your boot and toe so glad they're onto it as they're dsigns are unbelieveable, like something out of empire strikes back when they're in white. was just about to hit send when i saw your binding post. reading my mind with the rasta data...my eyes locked onto them as soon as i saw the image...force look sweet too. Current set up Palmer Honeycomb board Flow bindings Burton Rulers Board and bindings about 5 years old and bought in the US in the sale and when the exchange rate was half decent, boots about 2 years old. Need new board n bindings but don't go enough to warrant the expense. Last time I went was 1 season ago in Finland, just below the arctic circle. Floodlit pistes for the scary win! | |
