We usually meet NEWINGTON but some times go to peckham multi story car park in the winter or on a rainy day. Last year we were freqeunting vauxhall park occasionally but haven't been back for ages.
Best thing to do is check the last couple of threads to see where we are playing any given week. Hope to see you there.

Hi guys / gals not wishing to steal thunder from the beloved brick lane court but i figure there seems to be quite a few southerners knocking about on here. I'm in Herne Hill and i know there are a couple of brixton folk about. I wondered who might be up for playing / practising polo southstyle. I just can't get my arse up east sometimes and i'm also a bit shit at it, which probably frustrates those better players wanting to compete a little more. So who's up for some local polo? Brockwell park just came to mind because they have that disused basketball court by the cafe, but if you can think of anywhere else...?

yeah, im shouth london and its a bit of a trek to go to brick lane so that would be really good. other places we could play polo... those courts in kennington park? possibly closer to those who live in camberwell?

well up for drinking some beer and laughing at people trying to hit a ball with a stick whilst balancing on a bike, locally.

kennington would be excellent for evenings too cause its floodlit, i work in oval too. Any idea how much a court id to book, I assume you have to pay for them?
and we have at least one crowd member too, excellent, so far its you joel versus me with rpm burping and ref'ing.

I'm with joel. I'm brixton way and willing to make a fool of myself. Kennington is quite busy in the evenings mind!

okay then, things to do this week... find ot info about the courts, and try and make some polo equipment. if we could do it on a different day to sunday then people coul o to both. but that might defeat the point of having it in south london?

ummm damn i might miss this, am only in london for 2 days this week, then back in newcastle for the whole of christmas and maybe also new year :(. Let me know how you get on though joel!

tbh i dont think theres much point starting it anytime soon, simply because of the rain and early nights. i hink it would deter people from coming and i dont think we would learn much, much better to wait till after the new year, not to far away, then start it fresh in 2008?

brockwell park is on the doorstep (am in Tulse Hill) so would be up for giving this a go when it is up and running.

I work in Brixton so would be well up for an evening during the week. Maybe on the floodlit Kennington courts? The first evening could be making mallets.

excellent. list? regarding mallets, so i don't go over old ground what dosnt work: Dowling? Too shit? crutches...did anyone have success? is it ski poles or croquet the only success or are their other dark arts out there?

if it was in Brixton, I'd ride my jump bike and play. but not going to be doing much riding of any sort until into next year

I'd be up for this. I reckon Brocky park would be ace as it's a) about 100m from my flat, b) next to a cafe with tea and cake and c) there's a minature railway nearby. Could do weekends instead of evenings if lighting is a pboblem. Could also play on the old gravel football pitches near the lido for some mad max, gravel rash polo action.

I'd love to do wednesdays, smack bang in the middle of the week. but open to discussion, i figure tuesdays are TC right? and ;)...i want to see those excellent skills too, i'm loving the 'estelleystand'. ;) Sorry stelle...hows the ribs?

brockwell park probs won't be any good at night, but i'll have a scout around kennington/oval today and see what turns up, otherwise their are football pitches on ferndale rd, (that we'd have to book)

Peckham high St, behind the Cinema.
I dont think we can be choosey...Somewhere to hone the skills init.
It's well lit and pretty quiet in the eves.
I know a couple of other places but this joint seems fav to me so far...

There's netball courts up at Oval, but you need to pay for them (although they do come with lights), they're not that keen on people riding bikes on them though. Brockwell's only a five minute ride from Brixton. Trinity Gardens or that posh square in Kennington where people play boule, could be other choices. Both have pubs attached!

The gates at Brockwell all get closed at sunset and it's completely unlit so evenings might not be great there. Multi storey car park would have the added advantage of being dry in this constant pissing rain.

nah, the gates by the lido are open until 10.30 cos of the new poncey gym. but the carpark does at least have lights and a roof...

and Bar story is only round the corner!
