Where did I go wrong?

ok i'm confused, are bb shells a standard width? are bb a standard width? if i know my bb is iso square taper as are my sugino 75s, and my bb shell is british and my cups are british, i would it all have worked together. and it did. but not perfectly.

the locktite didn't hold and the bb moved some mm's to the drive side. when previously i could see threads on both sides i could only see it on the drive side now.

so apparently the bb is 73mm and the bmw bb shell is 68.

maybe 103mm you mean. 5mm won't be enough if your shell is 68

no, his bb is a 73mm mtb size and the bike bb shell is the standard road 68mm which means that the threads are not fully engaged....

sorry to hear that koens but at least they weren't trying to rip you off eh?

you could bodge it with a couple of bb lockrings....

faaaaark - looks like total cycling fucked up. should have probably got it checked by a mechanic though when you saw 14 miles of spare bb thread either side - not sure how they'll respond when you complain after 5months of riding it.....

i'd have a bloody good go though.
