Onza Blue trackstand fail yesterday evening!
You probably already know this, but you gotta turn your front wheel 45 degrees into your front foot, so your toe is pointing at the front hub!

It wouldn't matter which way I turned the wheel, I'd still fall over. Can't trackstand for toffee.

It would be cool to get a group of fixed riders together!

I spotted a guy walking a fixie down Orchard Road/Street(?) the other day. Really cool looking bike. looked kind of gold with a white deep V rim on the rear. Anyone from here?

so what weekday would be best for everyone to gang up once in a while?
-second try, or third for someone to suggest a gathering.... maybe this time well make it happen, just cous we dont want to keep fallin by union street.

somewhere at a parking lot? idk. asdas secondfloor parkspace is quite big and quiet night time. some of youll probably know a better place though.
wednesday evening would do quite good for me -after becycle.

Got a friend heading up Aberdeen way for work. She rides but isn't SS/Fixed. What's worth checking out up there that's off the usual well worn trail?

as much as it pains my skating soul, BT car park beside train station, undercover and if i remember rightly, the coldest place in aberdeen.

but iv'e wasted to much of my life in that place. there's a slightly nicer car park at canons gym, which used to be the old odeon cinema on justicemill lane.

anyway, best thing would be for someone to man up and chose a date and time. weather depending.

+ meeting, yes. I suppose since there are at least four of us who see each other regularly, we could simply set up a time and place and see who comes. So... Coming Sunday, Oct. 25, 2pm, as suggested above, canons gym on justicemill lane (no idea where that is...)

Your all students ill do it this way,

canons gym carpark, is behind the foundry bar at the end of union street

There's the plaza, which is an outdoor business site, which is a few streets behind somerfield on union street. usually that's a bust for skating tho.. very American looking

and as a general meeting spot, on top of St,Nicholas shopping centre nice and central.

anyway im in. anyone from Aberdeen with a good knowledge of spots?

The skateparks good ;)

The denburn carparks good rain or shine. Top for some funny little transitioned banks and the bottom cos its dry and warmish. Depends what you guys want to ride? Flat or a bit of street. I've rode bmx in aberdeen for nearly 10 years now, if you could tell me what you want to ride I could easy show you on a map or in person .

Fixie tricks aren't for me either

sorry guys, can't make it. Feel free to swing by Under The Hammer afterwards - I'll be working & I'm sure I can sort somewhere to store the bikes for post-ride drink time.

I think I spotted a new Trek District today going down School Hill at about 11.40 this morning. It was definitely single speed, but not fixed. Bright orange rims and, I think, a carbon belt drive.

Did I see right? Is it you? What is the belt drive like to ride?

Beware potholes on George Street. Managed to puncture my rear tire when I hit one pretty hard after swerving to avoid an idiot driver pulling out of a parking space.

There is and epic beast just as you turn onto the bedford bridge from the north... it swallows riders whole!!

Just moved back out to Aberdeen for a few months from Nottingham. We had a pretty good group of us who'd go on big cycles there and im keen to get out spinning my legs some more. However Im far out, near Fyvie.

Whats it like up here now? Been 8 years since ive been riding about aberdeen?

Also I'm building up a geared bikje at the moment for some touring. Anyone have a spare Shimano Cassette for sale?

I'm heading up to Aberdeen for work next Monday, will be there Monday to Friday (and some weekends) for a couple of months.

Will hopefully be bringing my bike up within a few weeks, so look forward to hanging out with a few of you guys - does anyone meet for drinks or go for rides regularly (esp on week-nights)? Sorry if this is already discussed in the rest of the thread...!

Hey everyone! I've posted this on the facebook group, but thought it'd probably be a good idea to post here too. Basically, im coming up to film a documentary for my course in digital media and was wondering if anyone would be interested in being filmed and interviewed to take part in it or just fancy a ride around the 20th december? I spoke to Bendudenhoffer and he said that he's mentioned it to a few of you but thought it'd be best to introduce myself and stuff. I decided to do it in Aberdeen cos i thought the setting would be pretty good and cos it's a relatively new scene, to show the community in a city known for being grey and oil-rich. I know that's gonna be the end of term time, and i guess a couple riders are students but would anyone fancy taking part, interviewed or filmed?
Cheers,
James

Hoping this weekend i will have time to build my back wheel to complete the hipster deep V look ;)

I hope you're all up for coming in a ride on Sunday the 20th... you've got no choice guys! Maybe say a little something for the camera, doesn't matter if you aren't a good rider, it's just to show fixed gear riding in Aberdeen!

I'm making a return to aberdeen for the first time in over a year on Monday. If there is a ride happening let me know guys.

Any major pot holes to worry about? I don't remember the roads being worse than Glasgow.

There was an epic pothole on george st, it was like 2 foot wide and about 3 foot deep, city council filled it in within two days, but i see it sneakily appearing again lol! A few days after that i found one almost good enough to rival it! Can't remember where though... might have been a little intoxicated!!

Meet didn't happen... no one seems to like riding in this weather! Apart from myself and a select few others who are real men? HTFU ;)

Just wondering if anyone might be interested in a wheelset? Alex rpdis rims 700c rim, 3x laced to unsealed formula hubs (rear fixed/free). They are running straight and true and have recently been re-greased. They came on my fuji and were going to go on my pub bike, but i feel like building new ones for that lol!

Yo all..

Just join this aberdeen riders group, just knew the fixed enthusiasm of riding in deen...:)
Btw, I also reside in aberdeen, but i will leave next month and as probably seems no riding on this weather :(, I intend to sale several parts of my bike, such as B 43 white rims with formula hub, brooks B17 special black, Abus chain lock, Champ grips (grey), nitto riser b201aa Gold (nicely cutted for 2 cm), and several bits more..

Just pm'd me and will sent the pictures to you...

Cheers...

new on LFGSS.

Long time fixed rider - been batting about town on my specialised singlecross with tan brooks , rack and guards and possibly panniers after my old puch conversion snapped a drop out on me :( I guess my unicycle is also fixed wheel ;) other than that SS mtb is what i do

used to work in alpine with stuz mentioned before at the tail end of last summer till i moved on to pastures new.

Always up for riding what ever the weather.
