Anyone else want to do some nitromors/painstripping some time next week or next weekend?

need to do a frame and forks so would be cool to do with others to share costs of equipment and also to drink beer and blind ourselves. anyone in?

iv got a bottle of it if you want it? for free

enough for a frame? that would be sweet, do i need gloves and goggles?

yeh i got a botle for some forks i had so there is loads left,

i used gloves a fat'ish paint brush and an old toothbrush for the awkward bits
come pick it up or il bring it polo on thurs

ive got a frame at home i wanted to strip but couldnt bring it back up, i'd do my polo bike too, if it werent for the worry that it wouldnt go back together again once unbuilt, and that i dont know when id get a chance to repaint it,

ok cool, cant polo till thursday but il bring it then, have decided coaster hubs are shit, goin freewheel! infact gonna get off the computer and go in the garage now sort it out for thursday

i have an 18t freewheel if you want, trade for nitromors and 3 cans

and if i can come round your garage to make another mallet

freehweel is shimano etc, decent bit of kit

Oh, yeah... I can grab some more from the shop on Tib St as and when, they also have goggles and gloves too... a V good idea with nitromors... it's not nice stuff

Just did my frame last night, still a few fiddly bits to finish off around lugs and BB, but pretty happy with the the finish, used brushed on nitromors, then liberal nitromors on a toothbrush to move the paint wipe off with a rag then coarse wire wool dipped in nitromors, seemed pretty easy..... Some crappy pics:

Are you going to put any clear coat over it? Or just let it rust up?

I'm gonna leave it for a bit and see what happens to it, i need to clean it up a bit more and try and get rid of more of the chrome if i'm gonna get it clear coated so until then it'll be raw....

it'll look best when rusted slightly as you need more of a contrast between the bare steel and chrome (IMHO), at the moment they are both too light.

How long did you leave the nitromors on before you started with the toothbrush?

Follow the instructions, i applied a thick coat with a brush, left it for about 10 mins, then took a cheap shitty stiff tooth brush that i kept dipping i more nitromors and brushed the frame, you end up with a load of nitromors/melted paint gloop, that you wipe off occaisionally.... and repeat until bare metal, i also used a bit of wire wool dipped in Nitromors towards the end to clean it up....

Buy some washing up gloves, nitromors will sting/burn your skin & DON'T get it in your eyes, if you do you'll know.....!!
