I doubt it has a 'scene' just not the right kinda place. keep your eyes peeled when there. But better to partake in the things it does have, mad tropical awesomeness.

I lived in Jakarta for about 15 years. You might find a bit of a "scene" as kids are pretty knowledgeable about what is happening in Europe and the US but it will be small. The traffic would put most sane people off the idea as it is pretty chaotic. You'll learn about "macet" (pronounced mah-chet) - traffic jams!

When you are in bali make an effort to get to Dreamland beach. You will need to get some transport to get there but it is worth the effort - probably the best beach on the island.
