Cinema screening of 'pedal' and 'mash' in bristol

Fri 23rd - 7.30pm - £4adv

'An evening of film, art and music dedicated to singlespeed and fixed gear bikes, presented by Denim and 45rpm.

In the auditorium screenings of some of the finest fixed gear footage available, featuring riders from New York and San Francisco, as they battle traffic, showoff their skills, explore urban environments and injure themselves. Featuring the incredible stories of amazing riders and modelled on the style of skate andsurf videos, these films bring out the style and beauty of fixed gear riders, and are landmarks in the emerging subculture of urban riding.

The venue will be taken over by Street artist 45rpm who alongside friends will be providing work associated with the single speed/fixed gear bike culture. Artists so far confirmed include Sums, Black Cloud, and 45rpm himself.

Music in the bar from Nadoone (Illegal Seagull/Splashback) playing hardcore, skatecore & fixedcore!!'

If I can spare the time I'll come back for it.
Edit: If I decide I'm gonna try to do some Uni work this term I might have to stay in London.

Does 45 ride fixed? I don't know him personally, but i'm a fan of his relentless assault on our streets! Some nice stuff hanging in friend and co. I'm hyped about the event - haven't been to cube in a while, what is the bike locking situation?

He doesnt, no, he's organizing the event with a friend of his who rides and is mad into it - so hes handing the bike side and 45's handling the artside (although I can imagine after the night hell be riding in no time!)

Really looking forward to it! I dont know what to do about locking up bikes though... I only live just up the road so I dont have to ride down, but it'd be nice to - I can imagine itd make for some good photos to have all the bikes stacked there!

I spoke to 45 about the locking of bikes situation last night and he says that bikes can be locked up in the garden out back of the cube (I've never been there so I dont know where abouts it is) but that should be much more secure than leaving them out front

Sadly I can't make it tonight but was hoping someone could pick me up one of the shirts that will be available! Still want to support the event as I hope there will be more like it in the future! Size small! Thanks! :-)

Bristol is finally coming together! I did not expect that turnout! They just sold out as I bought my ticket..some really nice bikes on display, most of which i'd never even seen in Bristol which was a bit odd. With such success I think another night is defs in order.

I second that - good fucking work, chaps - great night.
Just one thing - and this is me being a pedantic slag - 'No gears' is surely an inaccurate description, no? Otherwise, you'd be pushing it like the Flintstones or something...

Yes very good Goebbles. I thought Marketing and PR was your thing?

'No Other Gears'...

...sounds really shit.

:)

It was a good night. It was nice to so many riders turn up and really dig the films. Magnus in particular it was nice to say hello to... and it was good to bump into a couple of other familiar faces again.

Everyone rides £££ track bikes here in Cheltenham. Children learn to ride brakeless at 5 and you can find carbon disc wheels on street corners on bin day.
