Jesus, those hill intervals from the morning came back to haunt me during the last 150m on the rollers :O

BTW Winston, I've sent a speculative email to a friend at the old club about those competition rollers, so watch this space...

Saw Winston at Bike Polo who said it was by the artistic cyclists. Walked straight past it.

I've seen your pins going 90 to the dozen. In fact, are there any Australians who CAN'T sprint?

We need to get a rollers A-TEAM together for the next Rollapaluza clash of tribes...

I'm designed for top-end speed.. I need a Super Mario style leadout train. Maybe if winston stopped dropping the gear! (I'd just lose by less). What was that gear winston?
I'm always keen to give the rollers a shot. Let's do it.
I should buy a mag trainer or something and spin my arse off all winter in 20 second bursts :)

Viagra for roller racing.

Bastardos!

Are Condor gonna take them back at some stage and sell them on? :)

I'm going to do exactly that on a fluid trainer once the hills are done. With fresh legs and a bit of practice, I reckon a sub 20-second time's do-able, even on that pissy gear :p

We have the technology...

I'm just asking my truck-driving mate to ship me over a tonne of amp3tamines.. they should help get the rollers up to 'speed'. *evil grin*
Do you own a fluid trainer?

Yeah, I've got a Cyclops Fluid2, which replaced a rim-driven thing that was no good for high-resistance stuff.

The Cyclops is great - nice 'road feel' with progressive resistance the faster you ride to mimic drag, quiet, stable, blah, blah. I did a winter of mashing stuff a couple of winters ago to try to overcome my abysmal lack of power whilst seated, and it kind of worked; but it's good for spinny stuff in a low gear as well, and out-of-the-saddle if you raise the front wheel a bit. I've even used it without the roller touching the back wheel and spun up to over 240rpm which would've been fun for the downstairs neighbours.

Are you thinking of getting a turbo whatsit then?

I used to use a mag trainer back in Oz when:
I really couldn't be bothered going out (rarely, I typically prefer death from the elements to indoor training)
When I broke collarbones, etc.
When I was warming up before the odd TT.
For some semi-organised training at THE SHOP.

Given the greater amount of shit weather here.. indoor training might be a good way of prolonging bike/rider life :)
So, yeah, you could say I'm thinking about it. Seems a bit silly given I'm not even racing though.. but then so is owning a HRM..

How loud is the Fluid 2?

Pretty quiet. I don't have to put music on any louder than normal flat-dwelling volumes.

I think the trainer sort of has a resonant frequency at multiples of 10mph - the 'hum' gets loudest at these speeds, but it's nowhere near washing machine territory :)

I can only get my watch to show 12hr and 24hr.. how do you get 'mutually convenient' time? Is it the one with the Roman numerals?

Jokes aside, when is a good time for you? I would actually like to test one out. I'm asking my old coach now what he uses coz I think it might be the same one.

Need a cadence too now.. more go bye bye more hippy goes sigh sigh

BTW, I haven't got cadence, but I did get one of those rear wheel sensor kits to help allieviate boredom.

I ride past your place around 5pm most nights.. I might give you a buzz. This relies on my memory though so don't get upset if I don't call :)

Rear wheel sensor kit.. as in for a normal cycle computer? So if you are riding fixed you could work out cadence based on speed anyway?
