Regular Bike Polo Night Wed - from 6pm

This week meet at:
On Your Bike
33-40 Bradford Street
B5 6HX

I've got mallets and balls noobs and pros (ha!) welcome.
If people could suggest good places they know i.e b-ball courts and car parks. Maybe try here.
If people want my number just 'pm' me.

yes yes yes! i'm there, and not just because of the excellent choice of meeting location.

there's also this place: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=52.4...,0.009645&z=17

although there are sometimes ruffians hanging around at that time...

Also, if anyone knows where you can get cheap ABS piping that's has a diameter of +60mm please let me know.
If you see any construction sites that have some, also let me know.

I'm going to make more mallets and sell them on at cost price, so people can play whenever/wherever they please.

Best balls are street hockey balls similar to these.

Hi BFGSS peeps

I suggest Kings Heath as a venue for this and similar events...
  • KH community centre car park has a pitch already marked out, Heathfield Road
  • 2 car parks next to LIDL in Silver Street
  • Car Park next to Iceland in Institute Road
  • Refreshments at Hare and Hounds or refuge if it rains
  • Lots of Sheffield stands
  • No ruffians
  • 10 minute ride to train at Stirchley (Bournville) for Blowie Ben to get home

Also could someone set up a group and/or post events on http://www.birminghamcyclist.com?

cheers

yeah, i agree. although there was only 4(.5) of us, it was cool. perfect location except for the over-large goals, but i still managed to miss a fair few sitters!

if anyone's interested, i'm tempted to go and watch a day of the European Polo Championships 1/2nd August in London. train down, cruise around town, watch polo?

anyone?

Cheers guys for the game, look forward to next week. Recovered from the knocks and bruises, mainly due to self imposed accidents. Did you have some photos Fin? I was down a man during the game. How many do you think we can fit on the court without multiple pile ups?

HTFU!
We played some good polo.
With an impressive spread of goals dan and anthony will be pro in no time.
Tho Shamim and I obliterated them 3-0 in 2on2 (after Chris and I were obliterated by them 0-3).

3 mallets ready to be made up to order - £5 a pop.
Mallet length should be 1-2cm below the saddle, so if you give me the spec i'll cut em down for you.

Suggestion, feel free to ignore....

Covered rooftop basketball pitch on corner of Gooch st?

Might be too small but if not they might let you hire it when it's raining?

I reckon it is. Look at http://www.bing.com/maps/ its the first building on left on Goodge Street/Bishop Street turning left off Sherlock Street. Go to Birds Eye view, it is the white roof with 2 rows of skylights, you can see a five a side net at one end (rotate view with arrows). 3 sides are open with mesh fencing.
