Gentleman/woman conduct These rules will be s ubject to referee’s discretion. If the referee considers a rule broken (either dangerous or tampering with play) they can instruct any player to either touch out at centre court or circle the court without touching the ball. Remember, if you do get in the way of play on purpose whilst circling the court the referee can and will make you circle the court a second time even if the other team has scored within this time. • Mallets should not be swung higher than handlebar height around other players. If someone was hit with a mallet it would break the like for like contact rule.

| | If you find it it would be great to have it on the forum somewhere. On an unrelated note, one thing I noticed when the East guys came to play was the etiquette after a goal has been scored. There was much more of a break in play and a clear indication of when everyone had tapped back in. I find when we play (I'm also guilty of this) that there is a rush to try and seize an sneaky advantage after a goal has been scored. It's happened a few times where not all players have tapped back in but the opposing team are already lining up for a goal. I know the team who have conceded a goal can not cross the half way line before the scoring team taps back in but can members of the scoring team cross the line and play for the ball even if the entire team hasn't tapped in yet? Hmm that's not too clear, does anyone understand what I'm on about? |

| | Yep I know what you are on about, it was happening last night too... I've seen similar in league play, although the people tapping out first don't cross they line they do go forward and the last person generally slots into goal... I see it as an unwritten rule that goes both ways, neither side should be accross the middle till the whole of the scoring team have tapped... But at wests (perhaps because of a lack of team unity) the first person to tap back is often across the middle well before all their team mates have tapped... |

| | i don't think there was any rough play last night, to be fair i think we need to get a bit more snap in the tackle.. a bit more lead in the pencil, beef in the sandwich. pick the tempo up a little. High mallets needs to be nipped in the bud as someone is going to get one in the chops one day - it can't be me.. not with these chisled features! To be honest you don't need a mahhossive swing to catch the ball, the power comes from the accelaration before the point at which you strike it. snap your wrists.. this way it's easier to disguise the shot/pass. you take a huge back swing half off hammersmith knows which way you are playing.. unless you drop a fakey and come inside then it's pure class.. |

| | If you guys want to discuss rules: http://www.ehbpc.org/the-tournament/rules/ This is not the latest update. I'm constantly working on the wording of these things just to clarify them a bit more. These rules are a combination of London's 'unwritten' rules and what I've seen played in Europe and in North America. I'm also not wanting to change the game that we have always played too much so a lot of it is still to the ref's discretion. Speaking of ref's... any volunteers to ref the EHBPC qualifying tourney and/or the EHBPC tournament? Please let me know. |

| | Actually after re-reading it, I don't think there's much to discuss... [*] Infact I think it would be good to stick it up on the west court for those who don't come here but do go to polo? [*]Except this: -If the ball becomes trapped within your bike or person play continues but please be aware that any legal play towards your bike or person will be considered as play towards the ball and therefore legal. What does that mean? What happened for that rule to be worded like that? Did someone have a ball stuck in his helmet while people were swinging at him?! |

By making all that legal play it's basically telling the person with the ball to get free of it quickly, or else! Usually this goes on for a couple seconds and the person with the ball stops, puts a foot down and frees the ball manually, it's all well civilized...

| | just for clarity Fouls: -Players must not touch the floor with their feet. Touching the wall or barrier with your feet is allowed; feet must not touch the floor. Each time a player does foot-down, that player is out of play and may not play the ball until they touch either sideline at center court. The player must immediately tap-out and not purposefully obstruct play. Intentionally obstructing play after foot-down will be considered a strong penalty. A possible goal that is blocked by a player out of play due to foot-down is not a goal. -Throwing your mallet is not allowed at any time and will be considered a strong penalty. - T-bone’ or charging. Intentional, forward moving bike contact that is perpendicular or near perpendicular (resulting in a maneuver similar in shape to a letter ‘T’) will be considered a strong penalty. -Overly aggressive behavior such as grabbing, pushing, punching with hands, pushing or kicking with feet, and headbutting will be considered a strong penalty. “Like” contact that is allowed: -Non-aggressive Body to body, mallet to mallet, and bike to bike. Apart from the fouls listed above. -Contact is only permitted within the play of the ball. Contact away from the play of the ball can result in a tap-out or penalty. Non-like contact that is allowed: -Ball to body, mallet or bike. -Body to ball is allowed if you are sat in the saddle, feet on the pedals, hand holding mallet, other hand on bars. You cannot intentionally restrain, nor add momentum to the ball with your body. This can result in the ref calling a tap-out. -If the ball becomes trapped within your bike or person play continues but please be aware that any legal play towards your bike or person will be considered as play towards the ball and therefore legal. |

| | Quick question as regards getting myself all polo biked up ASAP on the serious cheap: how do people feel about SE Racing 2009 Draft Lite single speed? http://s233299868.e-shop.info/shop/a...free-gift.html Are they really shitty and heavy? If this bike is a serious no no then has anyone got any suggestions? I'm happy enough to buy something fairly crappy and then change a few bits and bobs to make it polo-worthy. |
