This is really important. With forums for every type of car out there, it's easy to find out with a few evenings' worth of reading.

uber gruber it felt expensive to run at first but that was compared to driving a 1958 morris minor 1000. i went from a carburettor the size of a espresso cup to two greasy spoon coffee mug sized dellortos. i soon realised that i had to put my foot down in the morris minor to go faster but didnt need to (and it was cheaper if i didnt) in the bmw. i never ever tired of twisting the little knob to open the quarter lights.

aaahhh whatever happened to quarter lights on cars eh?

buying advice - join a car club specific to that model of car. the rotten pigs worth steering clear of will be well known about in the community. i didnt but i got lucky.

Normal day for you then coppi.

Friday at the speed festival is usually free and the less crowded of the days. For me it gets too crowded. Is that a sign I'm getting old?

The Revial is great and coppi that should get a walk around roll...free entrance. Hpoing to have the scooter there depending on the year of the festival and if I can blag a stay at my friends nearby and what cars I can blag to drive around inside.

I will be at both, parents live on the estate so I get free tickets to all events on the estate as 'compensation' for the inconvenience, and a residents access permit for car- result.

Probably going to try and make the moving motor show this year

Even if it looks goods and feels right the bugger will still throw a wobbly somewhere along the line, if the 2002 is anything like the E30 then check everywhere for rust, rust, rust and rust

Oh and I'd say buy it as I did the same..................

ha. I'm so fickle. after browsing car classifieds for 2 days solid i am now looking at:
BMW Touring, 1980 Mercedes G-Class Turbo Diesel, 1986 Landrover Defender, Mercedes Heckflosse 1966, Mercedes S Class 1976, Audi GT Coupe 1983, and a Mitsubishi Pajero from '81. what a slag.

the 4x4 thing is coming in as I also have a soft spot for 'working' cars and as i'm moving to sweden for 2 years they might be a bit more practical in the winter... plus the no tax thing applies to them too and if they are pretty compact and diesel could be cheap enough to run.

But then I keep coming back to the 2002 Touring. Just seems really hard to find one that isn't rusted to shit.

New trunk pan welded in and painted, fuel tank sumped, welded, powdercoated and re-installed...not holding my breath but it may actually be running again soon.
Been almost a year since the new engine arrived - long wait!

Hating you for being on the compound, I looked at camping last year and winced at the price. My friends live in Mundham and that is a pain to get through with the traffic getting in and out.

Queens day revels?

still looking at Bimmers btw... thing I'm realising is that no matter how nice you think yours is, you always find one much nicer, but just a bit more expensive...

These are cheap!!!! If they are get one, they are great. Expensive if they go wrong as second hand parts are quite difficult to source. Especially gearboxes and transfer boxes.
