Shimano 600 vs 105

Which is higher up in the shimano quality hierarchy, 105 or 600?
Isn't 600 the old ultegra?

Yes. 600 would be higher spec. but you have to factor in the fact it's older.. so some parts of the new 105 groupo will be better than parts from a 600 groupo. Outboard BB is one example.

I ran 600 cranks on the Raleigh and they're now on the Condor. How new are the 105s? Are they both square-taper? If so I'd probably stick with the 600s.

I spent 10 minutes working out whether it was a good move to post it and 35 minutes doing the maths.

If you would have spend 35 minutes working out whether it was a good move, you could have saved yourself the mathematics.

now, using your formula, how much better is dura ace than ultegra?

Dura-ace, according to my calculations are the lowest of the low.

I used to read it every day... but I tend to forget to these days until something funny of his blog like that photoshopped bmc pennyfarthing pops up in this forum...

I have old 600 square tapers on my bike, same as hippy had on his I think.

Have found them really nice, somehow feel more solid & better machined than the equivalent 105 which Ive also had before.
