Alleycat

been thinking for a while about organising a small informal alleycat. probably on a weekend daytime but not sure yet. who would be interested to ride? also i would need about 6 volounteers to help with a checkpoint idea, but they'd still be able to race though so no panic. i'll be riding too. it'll be fun(?) and fast(!) and a roaring success i hope.
it might not be till december the way my diary is filling up, unless it becomes a week night at rush hour...

so basically just want an idea of interest and numbers for now please...

I'll probably come back for that. Anyone taken their bike on the coach back from London? Train's just a bit expensive!

coaches dont really let you. check their baggage policy and see. the cheapest train is a tenner, paddington to temple meads as long as you book in advance and arent going at peak times. i always end up spending about that on a coach cos im so last minute.

Yeah. Thanks! I did actually think about it once, then realised that I'd undoubtedly end up in a messy pile on the side of junction 16 after getting lost from the sideroads.

Thanks. Yeah, me too. You haven't set a date yet have you?
I'll keep my eyes open.

check out megatrain as well, often a tenner too. goes from waterloo so is an hour longer. but if you're not busy and important that won't matter.

alleycat - arr, me too.

Just do it man, I've never done one before either. Think I'll be alright providing the tasks aren't things like reverse 360's! I've never brought my bike back to Bristol either, maybe have to re-think my gear ratio. What's good for all the hills in Bristol? Do you go up a ratio and hammer it everywhere or take it down and go a bit easier on your knees?

I'd be in for a bit of an alleycat and I'd probably be able to convince 1 or 2 others to join too.
Let me know details

yep yep good question.

sorry ive been real quiet on this fora while, kept meaning to post and let people know the score. basically, ive been super busy, working, training, more working, rennovating the house and going to london to see my lady so im hoping to do this in the new year. i will sit down with my diary, and check the work rota and try and work out an evening for it. sorry for the delays but i really am up for it if people dont mind waiting. unless of course someone else wants to organise another in the meantime, and i'll try not to be too jealous.

"thinking of putting together an alleycat, although itl be more of a booze run and party. sometime around June 21st the longest day of the year which happens to fall on a Sunday. So possibly the Friday or Saturday before or maybe even the Sunday. there wont be any check points as such, just a start and a finish.. and hopefully a venue for a bit of a party afterwards. The idea is a list of 3 to 5 supermarkets around Bristol, and a shopping list. One item from each super market. keep hold of the receipts. first one back with all the items and a receipt from each of the corresponding supermarkets wins eternal glory.
the list will definitely contain a 40oz for those old enough to purchase alcohol and then probably just some general snacks or more booze. hopefully try and organize a few prizes. speak to the guys at workshop and 50/50.
let me know if anyone's interested in helping out or racing the more the merry its just gonna be a bit of fun after all."

I am quoting a friend from trackdropouts.com, he has asked me to post it up on this forum to stir up any possible interest and the subsequent suggestions or ideas.
Go nuts!
