yeah it had drops with grotty yellow grips on it a while back, and was also a raw frame with clearcoat job, finally the rust got through so ended up spraying it again.

frame might be for sale soon, just sourcing an original raleigh badge and 531 stickers for it, cant decide whether to keep this and sell this or vice versa?

my first fixed "project", nothing exciting!
claud butler 531 road conversion bought pretty much ready to go.
just put some new pedals and straps on.
other plans are to replace the wheels to something more suitable as soon as i have the funds.(any ideas?)
may change the drops or possibly just some put on some charge U-Bend Bar Tape.
also need to sort out the slackness of the chain. anyway:

Unfortunately I don't have room for a really classy looking fixed - although I'll make it if the right vintage frame comes up that's about 58cm ST and 54cm TT! So here's the everyday bike for commuting, pub duty, mucky winter rides and other miscellany:

Here's mine.
I'll buy y'a pint if you can identify the frame. It's about 50yrs old, british, original paintwork (clinging on for dear life). The narrow blue/red/white sticker is my addition BTW.
Holler if you see me around.

I agree G-bitch, I've got some unfeasibly narrow 50's style drops that came with the frame. I'll be switching back soon (as well as finally getting rid of the stubborn deep-v stickers).

See you at the cube.

I don't think its the appearance of the bike which is provoking these responses..
perhaps its the lack of toestraps.. oh and it could be a little to do with the front light =]
but other than that its pretty different/interesting I guess

toe straps are in the post (damn ebay) - front light wasnt tight (1st ride) and you either love or hate.

Thanks for comments. Frame is fillet brazed 531C. Not sure how old, but it was around when the Manchester bombings took place in 1996, hanging up in Harry Hall's, and I would imagine it was secondhand then.

No mudguard eyelets, that is a rear mech hanger (bit of a strange addition for horizontal dropouts).

Cinelli XA stem, Cinelli 65s, Campag Moskva rims with SJSC hubs. All (except for the hubs) left overs from the early 90s...

Has now been passed on to a colleague at work... He borrowed it to train for a Newport velodrome session I organised and fell in love with it.

Ah fillet brazed, very nice. And yeah, after writing I noticed no eyelets on the forks, and thought maybe a derailer was involved.

Never seem the 'Moskva' rims before but I finished lacing a Campag Omega V just 10mins ago! They look pretty similar too.

Moskva (I will check the name again) have a bead blasted braking surface. I think they are the same extrusion as Omega V and Ypsilon too...

My ride:

I was gunna wait till I had totally pimped it out with a new stem before I poted pictures, but it seems I have no money so I can't afford a stem, so it will look like this for a while now! Had it since 2007, just got new wheels, seatpost & bars for it you see.
I work in Bath so mainly ride round there, holla if you see me!

I bought this for £20 from the paper! excellent condition, everything I have taken off is being stored in case I return it to its original geared glory. I love the 80s gold graphics and named her 'Endeavour' after the space shuttle on the seat post.

The pics are a kind of after and before, now riding some original drops after ditching the chops.

Well I've just joined this group - not been in Bristol all that long and have been riding fixed for about a year.

Just finished my new build last month - a beautiful metallic gun metal grey Bob Jackson - and was gonna take pics of it over the weekend to post here when on Friday morning I got hit from behind by a big fooking car on my daily commute. You could say I'm pretty pissed about it. Managed to get all his details - in between the "ooh I'm so sorry...I didn't see you" and my concussion slowing my head down a bit so I'll post my fixed, fixed when I can.

Just a little rant - oh and hello, be good to go for a ride when I've got some wheels again.

Cheers, I live in Bristol and work out at Nailsea so it was on a mini roundabout just off the A370. The cars come pretty fast of there and don't seem to look out for cyclists. My bike's working again but just looking a bit worse for wear. Should get a respray and the dents filled when his insurance pays up tho.

Nice frame&forks! Argos cycles are local and will do a good job. They're not cheap though.

Lovely shot. Did you rig up some lighting for that, or use a ringflash or something?
