A couple friends of mine, I caught up with them later that day and the rider was fine. Front rim was very out of true, however. The driver slipped the rider some cash to keep quiet, apparently.

I'll take responsibility for that...aha, thanks buddy, I was wondering how long I could comute before I was inevitably "spotted." :p The frame is indeed a Cinelli, but instead a Vigorelli.

Got a nod and a smile from a chap who was with his light blue bike inside the hairdressers on Zetland Road as I headed past yesterday afternoon! Plus saw a couple of young guns riding up Redland Road later on, not sure if they were fixed or not but one looked like a mountain bike conversion and the other was black with purple rims! Nice!

Gears thankfully - over 2000m of climbing involved. It's going to take a good deal more riding before I can do that kind of ride fixed. That said I'm aiming to do the Exmouth Exodus on fixed - www.exmouthexodus.co.uk

I can't believe I'm already double booked on that weekend! That sounds great.

(choices)

1. Free cycling holiday in the Lake District
2. The Big Chill
3. Exmouth Exodus

...i can't decide...

I wouldn't say brutal climbs - just some quite long ones. However, there are only really three hills on the whole route: Burrington Combe after 20 miles or so, Blagdon Hill after about 65 and then just a bit of a climb before decending into Exmouth. Honestly, it's really not a difficult route, I'm just going to make sure that I get a good few fixed ascents of Burrington in my legs before commiting!

i've been up blagdon on the ss before. seem to remember some steep, then a hairpin then some steep being the worst bits.

is the date for this 08/08 or 06/08? their site doesn't seem so sure.

*yeah, and this thread has become 'potentially spotted in the future in devon and somerset. in the dark' guess it's worth a thread if a fair contingent from 'yer are thinking of going*

Maybe I've got a rose tinted view from memory!

It's definitely June - they just haven't updated the website, I think it's confirmed on the discussion board.

Only unfortunate thing with the timing is that it coincides with Bikefest for our fat tyred brethren. However I'm hoping that the missus is going to join me along with a few work colleagues so adding in a few fixed bods will make for a good ride. I'd pay money to see a pitch black brakeless decent of Cheddar Gorge ;-)

At 2am after 65 miles Blagdon seemed pretty brutal, and Burrington isn't a walk in the park either, but then I'm probably not as fit as you.

Saw a what I think was a Cinelli Vigorelli locked up at the bottom of Park st by the college green. I was riding past, so didn't get a too good look at it. Velly nice, velly, velly nice. Had a white arrospok on the front too, which I happened to think looked great, but I am a notoriously tasteless shit

Looks like I had a night & day of spotting bikes and I only pop to the shop then for a swim.
Friday night about 8pm temple basin. A guy (stone wash jacket) silver (maybe) bike and a girl pale blue bike with pink deep v rims.
Saturday an old but very nice Raleigh fram, silver bars no grips down welsh back.
Saturday bit later white frame blue deep v wheels going arcoss the bridge near Bedminster ASDA

All the above looked like realy nice rides and it would be good to hook up and say hi sometime.
