    Hopefully I can make this.

Here's a few suggestions (one is in Kent, but maybe for the future?). Both are pretty flat on smooth quiet roads, all left turns.
Essex: super quiet, no roundabouts / lights / residential areas, but a touch narrow for a short section

Kent: a few villages, but easy to get round fast, and one set of traffic lights. really wide open roads with good visibility

There must be loads more in Essex, will keep thinking

This was great. After 70 odd miles yesterday the tank was empty after Shire Lane, but was good times before that. Got a PR up Toys chasing @FixedCheese after the cheeky sod took me 3/4 of the way up.

Props to @eyebrows and @6pt for organising and keeping things organised, and good to meet all the rest of yis. Sorry to disappear at the end, lots of boring stuff to do. Fortunately there is beer in the fridge and Tour of Britain on TV.

Will definitely come to the Voigt ride if I can as it's the group work that I really need to build skills in (Henry will send you a link to that loop I mentioned a bit later)

    Props on the 8.30 start.

Also props on adding Shire Lane uphill. Lovely road and a great one for giving it the beans. The very gradual incline really takes it out of you.

I do nearly all of these roads all the time (except the section from the top of Star Hill to the start of Shire Lane over Cudham - I normally go down to the Orpington bypass instead as you can get up some good speed) and highly approve of the route. Will be fun.

    N.B. Still terrified.

Did you breeze in there with a double decker pram and a copy of the observer clutched beneath your arm?

Gail's do a mean sausage roll. But would never go in there out of choice, wayyyy to much dosh

There's better out there, but forthe money it's really good i reckon - the £1 wholemeal loaf is tops, that's actually cheaper than a supermarket loaf.

They're peddling chia bread in a shameless jumping on the wholefood bandwagon at the mo, but i wanna try it.

Just seen this too! Thanks - very comprehensive!

I quite like the very unassuming looking bakers at the end of the road with HH station on it in (where the road meets Norwood road) for general good tasty cheapo loaves. They've obviously not caught on that you can charge about £5 for a loaf of rye bread in london yet...
