What do people use for analysing their power balance, pedal efficiency and torque effectiveness? I have TP premium and it gives a balance figure for the laps or overall, but not anything else.

And do peoplr pay much attention to the effectiveness and torque measures?

Nuun is fucking pricey, though it is da best. It seems to be getting increasingly hard to find, or is that just me? Coz of both the above points, I've defected to SIS and am getting on ok with it.

Plus SIS have become the Pizza Express of sports nutition - there's always a deal on. You can normally get a tube of 20 for around £3-4. Only three flavours though....

I hope Tom D hangs on to pink today and bloody valverde doesn't get it from him.

I've been listening to the daily podcasts here thecyclingpodcast.com/latest-episode . They're definitely worth a listen, great analysis and Moore and Birnie's inane chatter is funny.

Also, they revealed that Dumoulin eats either pizza or omlette sarnies as a snack before the podium. Makes me like him even more.

    Thanks @skinny @Smallfurry (aka DSLFGSS).

Am starting to look forward to training again whereas earlier in the week even the thought of it scared me a bit, which suggests my body is repairing a bit i guess.

Feels nice mentally to have a bit of a break from it all too - no matter how much i love riding, there does come a point where you need to step away. Cannae wait for some cols!

After a couple of big weeks on the bike (ending Sunday) and a couple of massive negative TSB plummets, I'm in the midst of an easy week.

I did a quick turbo session yesterday with some short sweetspot intervals and it was fucking terrible. HR was soaring and every pedal stroke was trauma. Am off to Pyrenees on Saturday so going to do a short and easy session tomorrow to keep the legs moving, nothing more.

Was a bit concerning at how hard i found the session yesterday, but the recovery app thing on the garmin suggested i needed more recovery time from that than i did after my big ride Sunday. Hopefuly i've HTFUd in time for next week.

The last few days are the first in weeks where my TSB has increased for more than about 3 consecutive days, and the first time it's been above zero for a few days in a row! I've been feeling like a bit of a dead man walking since Sunday, but am starting to get my shit together today, like am actually capable of standing up and holding a conversation and not just wanting to sleep and eat all day, like i did earlier in the week.

I was aiming for the old 'supercompensation' knowing that I was going to take it easy this week, just hope I didn't push it one step too far.

If the fund for Smallfurry (and my) coach doesn't materialise, we should give it to @skinny so he can publish a book

I'm having a resty week / taper following a pretty big couple of weeks of riding (some very big TSS rides and some short and horrible turbo sessions) , with a week in the mountains approaching starting on Saturday.

I last rode (bar pootle 20ish min commutes) on Sunday where I did my first century of the year. That was after the hard fortnight mentioned above. Not particularly feeling ready to get back into it just yet as I still feel pretty knackered and a bit battered. I was planning on just doing 2 x 1 hour turbo sessions this week to keep me ticking over before a first ride in the Pyrenees on Sunday.

I don't want to lose too much of what I've gained (but appreciate there will be some decline), but am keen to have a proper rest period having not done one for ages. So, I want to go into Sunday fresh and rested but not feeling totally alien to the bike. Any suggestions? Was gonna do a session tomorrow and another Friday, nothing too traumatic. Or should I do otherwise?

Rapha have been cunning with their pricing i reckon. When I first looked and saw £140 i was very surprised at the relative cheapness. But £80 for a different lense set, which I'd guess you're more than likely to want at some point - for example for low-light days - is a bit of a joke.

I think I got my oakleys for around £140, but they have a low light lense and a general sunny conditions lense.

Looks wise i'd say theyre pretty average. Am sure they'll be perched atop many noses in Kent and Surrey very soon.
