Was my first ride, had a brilliant time. Didn't leave london fields till about half nine - faffing around taping lights onto my partners bike. Seemed to be behind the weather the whole way, saw some spectacular lightning ahead at a few points, but luckily never got caught in the rain. Managed 15.1mph average.

Thanks to the guy with the route notes at the start and thanks to all the pubs open along the way. That halfway burger went down a treat.

An exciting start to the morning, the nail collected my mudguard on the way round, completely destroyed it

My mum wants to buy an electric bike so she can cycle the 15km of rural NZ roads (incl hills) between home and town... anyone got any advice/experience with electric bikes?

Essentially the same circuit, but arrived at the same shape purely serendipitously. That is a brilliant idea to stick it into the handlebar tube.

I was planning on sticking mine inside a short piece of 20mm conduit, the ends plugged with silicon so its water proof and then cable tying that onto my rear rack. I'm going to connect it to the dynamo power using the cable connectors on my rear light.

I might rethink that having seen your link though...

DIY phone charger I've made to run off my dynamo... cost about £10 for the bits (assuming you have a soldering iron and a random USB cable to butcher).

Haven't tested it on a long ride yet, but just gave it a quick try going along my street, and my phone registered that it was being charged.

Now need to make a waterproof case.

How can you tell it's not one of the edelux lights designed to be used upside down?

Never heard of such a thing. Its not on their product list... nabendynamo.de/produkte/pdf/english/lieferprogramm_export_2013.pdf

Upside down light isn't very functional
