The London Cycle Show 2011

Ok, the LHBPA is looking to partner up with The London Bike Show organisers to hold a big tournament in the new year... we have loads of perfect indoor space and up to 4 days to do it within, it'd be at the London ExCel from the 13th to 16th of January 2011.

Discussions are over in the LHBPA forum for privacy, please get involved with ideas and thoughts as it's a great opportunity (I reckon), here's the thread:

http://www.lfgss.com/thread53394.html

Cheers.

skoota 18th October 2010 14:02

sweet! can we call it "fuck yeh better than karlsruhe" ;)

emab 18th October 2010 14:04

Superb. I should be around for this.

EyeTie 18th October 2010 16:00

Sounds interesting

dublinkevin 18th October 2010 18:57

An indoor tournament in the middle of winter with loads of spectators who have probably never seen the game before? With a load of companies who make bike parts and frames probably keen to give us free samples and shit so we plug their products? Sounds brilliant, not just interesting!

JonoMarshall 18th October 2010 20:50

Yep, the similarity to Karslruhe is pretty accurate and the ExCel people seem cool...

If anyone would like to make their mark on this tournament (there's huge potential for it) then please step forward, or grab me for a chat sometime.

coventry eagle 19th October 2010 08:42

I'm in to help out with the organisation part :)

Turd Fergurson 20th October 2010 11:36

this will be awesome.

Seriously, any chance of a leg-up so I can look in?

gabes 20th October 2010 13:25

become a member.

tomasito 20th October 2010 13:33

Not even sure if I'm allowed to be one, being a non-resident, but happy to cough up a fiver. Either way, tourney dates would be good once they've been established.

emab 20th October 2010 13:33

Can I also be one?
Fiver at new year?

gabes 20th October 2010 13:41

yes, you can be one, you can give me a fiver later.

JonoMarshall 20th October 2010 13:47

I've always thought that people from outside London should be able to be members, we vote in person and I can't see how it would be a bad thing to have more input/wisdom/experience within the LHBPA forum.

I also can't think of anything we'd specifically want to hide from the outside world, etc. Maybe others can chime in with their experience/thoughts.

Djee-Djee 20th October 2010 14:00

Do it, this period would be great to visit london for some polo

Turd Fergurson 20th October 2010 16:02

I'm a member. I sent the access asking thing the other day and i still can't view it.

John H 20th October 2010 16:08

you also need to pm Gabes (or possibly some other admin) once you've requested access.

TS 20th October 2010 16:17

^ This will take several weeks...

JonoMarshall 20th October 2010 16:32

Everything's currently being overhauled, please be patient... you can request access here:

http://www.lfgss.com/profile.php?do=editusergroups

But until the spreadsheet Gabes' building is updated/complete we may be unclear as to your membership status!

1. Send Gabes a PM with details of when you paid your membership fee (unfortunately many of you are probably out of date now, we have all the old ones on file, but not many new ones).
2. Request access to the LHBPA forum.

The Paypal button will be up on the "join" section of the site whenever I get a moment to do it (this weekend?) and moving forwards we will know exactly what's going on and will be able to provide you all with lovely discounts at Push, Swerve and such like.

gabes 20th October 2010 16:38

I've already sent an email out to all existing members.

JonoMarshall 21st October 2010 10:16

I'm pretty sure it only went to "questionable" members or people who were having trouble with access?

I think you're sound as a pound B.

le car 21st October 2010 10:54

can I pay in €€€€?

JonoMarshall 23rd October 2010 19:47

If you want to become an LHBPA member, it's never been easier!

Go to: http://www.lhbpa.org/join and use the Paypal button at the bottom of the page, I believe you can pay in any currency, although it will come through to us in pounds (sorry Yorgo).

Please let me know if you have any problems but it seems to be working fine. Your email address will go on the membership email list and you will be allowed access to the LHBPA sub-forum.

I appreciate that not everyone wants to become a member but it's a great way to show support for your mates (and London bike polo in general) and it helps us have more power in numbers, etc. Get involved!

danwentskiing 23rd October 2010 20:38

don't know if this has been raised before, but can non-londoners join? i'm interested to see what's going on, and i'd also like to support the organisation.

JonoMarshall 24th October 2010 19:09

I'm ok with non-Londoners joining and it's not in the constitution that they can't?

Go for it, the more the merrier!

gabes 24th October 2010 19:10

Anyone can join.

danwentskiing 24th October 2010 20:04

paid.

JonoMarshall 22nd November 2010 11:00

Unfortunately this won't be going ahead for 2011, gutted.

We will get involved for 2012 at a much earlier stage and will make sure the (potentially annual event) starts with a bang.

voidcore 23rd November 2010 13:29

hey,
we were told to hold off plans for a January Manchester tournament, was it because of this?

JonoMarshall 23rd November 2010 13:38

Possibly, what's your plan? January is looking a little bleak now, sigh.

voidcore 25th November 2010 01:04

still need to get things sorted out but were hoping to hold an open in the roller rink from the uk champs, il discuss it with people see whats going down

What?! I've got my shit together. But so far barely 10 people have registered an interest.

emab 26th November 2010 16:59

Max. Everyone would be into it. Indoor at winter.
But it seems that less people bother reading the forum, let alone a thread that in its title would appear to be but another debate.

rik 26th November 2010 21:21

MAx, choose a date for the tourney, make official, you will see like you have 40 peps in no time

TS 26th November 2010 21:29

It's spelt Pepe, idiota...

rik 26th November 2010 21:58

Glowbike 5th December 2010 14:00

How do I get into the thread at LHBPA? May be down working at the london cycle show so am interested in what's going on for this.
