  • There's a female cyclist trapped under a lorry on the northbound Edgware Road exit from the roundabout.

All three emergancy services are currently in attendance at the site.

    Additional Information:
It's a Brinks truck which is basically a large armoured vault on wheels.
The cyclist is trapped under the nearside rear wheels.

I will leave the conjecture of how the accident happened to the professionals and to actual witnesses.

    Stay strong lady.

    13:08 update:
According to the Police on the scene, the incident is currently being treated as a non-fatal collision, though there is great concern for the cyclists legs which were trapped beneath the rear wheels for considerable time, *she will be lucky to walk again.

*This is potentially conjecture on the bike officers part.

  • shit! fingers crossed

  • I use that route on a weekly basis - it's generally carnage.

    Fingers crossed.

  • Shit, I come down there every day. Hope for the best.

  • Linky no worky!

  • How sad, fingers crossed she pulls through.

  • ouch town. I f*cking hate that roundabout.

  • Fuck, fingers crossed for the lady

  • Shit, fingers crossed :(

  • How many fucking times does need need to happen? Is it just collateral damage on a busy road system or can anything ever be done to solve the problem?

Hoping for the best for the victim and that it is not as serious as it sounds.

  • jesus.

    hope she's okay...

  • Fingers crossed

  • Fucking hell. I don't cycle in London, but that system is petrifying in a car, total chaos most of the time. Hope she's gonne be ok.

  • from the bbc:

Update on the accident at Marble Arch - the pedestrian involved has been taken to hospital...

  • Pedestrian? Work colleague said their was a bike under the front and presumably the cyclist trapped at the rear.

It's amazing how many different descriptions are being posted..??

Bus/Truck/Ped/Cyclist etc sometimes wonder if people actually use they're eyes..
Or do they just post stuff that seems to fit what they think might be going on?

  • Bad news. :(

That gyratory is definitely in the worst 20 in London.

I hope her injuries will be less severe than it sounds right now.

There's a lot of confusion and panic after a personal injury collision. It's not surprising in the slightest. Look at how if it doesn't look as if it's too bad, people just want to get away and not deal with it. With more serious things, many people want to rubberneck. Secondhand knowledge gets passed around. People speculate.

  • The OP is information unfortunately witnessed first hand, most of the internet and Twitter posts are second hand information and hearsay.

I have to head past there again shortly so I'll see if there's any further information and update the original post.

  • Updated.

  • Fingers crossed for minimal injury and a full recovery

  • nasty nasty shit. hope the injured parties make a full recovery. best wishes.

  • I saw this incident today. The poor girl was on a bike and I heard her scream as she went under the truck. I was at the lights heading towards Oxford Street on a bike just a few metres away. I called the ambulance. I'm a bit traumatised by it all to be honest, and came across this thread after googling and hoping to find some good news that she was OK.

My new mission in life is to make a fuss to try to get something done about the way traffic goes round the Edgware Road end of the Marble Arch. About 20 seconds before this happened I was cut up by a black BWM that cut across the lane going towards Oxford Street - I swore at him a few times and a few seconds later the poor girl went under the truck. Unbelievable. It very nearly was me today. That junction is a mess.

I'm not religious, but thoughts and prayers go to that poor girl and her family.
