  • Like whether this appears on twitter in the next 10 seconds

  • OK, interesting... it does.

Looks like we have live twitter updates then :)

  • great

  • May not please you, but it pleases me.

It means that those monitoring Twitter for updates, especially of Classifieds stuff can now be pinged the instant a new thread is created using whatever client that they please.

So it becomes somewhat trivial for someone to obtain a live feed of "For Sale" adverts... which is pretty useful.

  • Oh, and it also ensures that new threads are almost instantly indexed by Google and Bing.

I've tested and proven that updates to Twitter are one of the main triggers to getting search engines to index a page, I assume both search engines are drinking from the firehose.

I'm reckoning it's now under 90 seconds for a thread to be indexed and available as a search result in Google.

  • We also now have live updates going over to friendfeed for pretty much the same reasons: Instant alerts via whatever tool you want to use, search engine benefits for the site.

  • oh dear... too much coffee David??

  • Time for a sit-down and a Creme Egg...

  • You've earned it...

  • For my next trick I shall deploy a legion of lemmings to throw themselves into the road in the shape of letters that spell out a new thread title.

  • March 18th 2011, www.lfgss.com (a trading name of Cyberdyne Sytems) gains sentience and destroys us all.

We send The Pistanator back in time to try and destroy VB...

    great game!

  • yeah David.. stay away from the coffee son. maybe take some time out, bit of fresh air, maybe buy a dog so you can walk it.

  • "oh yeah the forum only takes an hour or so of my time" Zzzzzz.... Zzzzz.... wake up forum i got stuff to show you!

  • Perhaps we should inviter her over for a lively discussion twitter.com/GloriaFallon123/status/7833148487

  • just noticed this, its kind of cool.

is there a way of following individual threads on twitter?

  • Now, I can make a full use of me iPhone

Maybe I should be mentioning this to my clients? Thanks for the SEO tip. :)

An interesting one velocio, you finding them indexing the original post or the tweet linking to the post?

  • Velocio, you truly are a random genius legend.

Google follows 301 redirects (of bit.ly) so it's the end page that gets indexed.

Not that Google is the only thing to follow the link. My stats show around 20 real people follow each link on average. So there's actual real user benefit way in excess of the SEO benefit.

  • Cool. I have some ideas for the tomorrow now.
