• For sale:
Harry Quinn frame in excellent condition. Very good Cherry red original paint. Probably mid 80s. Seat:57cm ctc, top:55 ctc.

120 rear spacing, long horizontal dropouts, big clearances with 700s, so probably meant for 27 inch with mudguards, no gear hanger or braze-ons except for (bizarrely) a chainguard. Has relaxed touring geometry. Comes with original headset and seat post pin. Takes nutted brakes, not hidden fixings. (I sold the original Dia Compe brakes to Van Damage. No idea if she used them). Drilled front and rear, has mudguard eyelets on the dropouts

Harry did not make this frame. This is a Quinn made under the Falcon years which dates it to between 1981 and 1989. After about 1989 HQ bought the name back/rescinded the licence and made his own frames again. (and before 1981 it was the original independent shop in Liverpool of course). I originally suspected this was a generic frame badged up, but I've seen identical complete bikes and have concluded that in fact it is as genuine as a Falcon Quinn gets. All the parts were Japanese, including the fork, and my theory is that Falcon had these built in Japan, imported them and badged as Harry Quinns.

It looks very good, the paint is original and very shiny and the lugs are lined with gold paint. Very few chips - one where the gear changers were bolted on over the HQ letters. The tubing is a mystery. seamed, weighs about 3 - 3.5kg

I'm asking for £110 for the frame and forks.

    ALSO:
Turbomatic 3 - steel rails black synthetic top with lots of stitching and writing on it if you like that sort of thing. The chromed plastic has lots its chrome in places. It has gel padding and rubber rail bushes for more comfort. £15

Flite and Italia saddles are long gone.

This would suggest that this frame is from a town bike with a gear hub, no?

  • possibly, though it's very similar to one I saw built up with a separate gear hanger on the axle. It has definitely had downtube levers on it at some point.

    the one I saw.

  • selle for £15 still avail? dibs if so, pm in mornin

  • Turbomatic? no probs.I'll be at Easts tonight if you want to collect there.

  • naughty bump to say the turbomatic saddle is available still - no follow up to dibs.
and the frame is being whored on the 'bay.

  • good luck bay'ing that harrry quinn. 110 seems a bit over the odds for a gaspipe tourer.

  • he he ha ha not heard that saying for a long time
