  • It doesn't work

  • Works well... but it has to be the last thing you click.

If you open 10 other tabs with LFGSS threads, the Mark All Read button won't work.

If you refresh the home page and then hit Mark All Read it will work.

It's a side effect of edscoble trolling the forum.

  • The LFGSS logo just appeared for the first time at the top of my page... Looks great, so much cleaner... Good job, site boss... x

  • I changed the nav bar.

It should work... but if it doesn't you won't be able to read this post because you can't navigate to it.

    Erm.

Anyway... yes, should work on all devices and mobiles, should see faster page loads, should still make sense when the screen is narrow.

    .

The menus are almost impossible to use on the default Android browser. Work OK in Firefox for Android, though.

  • What Android version do you have?

  • 2.3.5 on an HTC Desire S.

  • Cool, I'm going to order a few dev devices so that I can work on it from my end. I'll order something that has Android 2.2 > 2.5 so I've got you covered.

  • Like the full name back rather than just LFGSS
    looks more serious

  • looks more serious

That would only get us in trouble under the Trade Descriptions Act.

  • The serch dosent seem to be working. Just go's to the home page.

  • Oh its back to LFGSS again
    In Bianchi green

    Ha!
can't please everyone with logos ;)

  • The serch dosent seem to be working. Just go's to the home page.

Try CTRL+F5 or Apple+R or whatever force refreshes the page and all of the cached files on your browser. On a mobile browser you might need to clear your cache.

Just ordered, should have it within the week.

I have done some playing within the simulator, and I think I will be increasing the font size slightly across the site to make things like this work in all devices.

I've also noticed on the home page that the UKFGSS section is too large in some browsers.

    It's all a bit weird.

  • I really don't envy your arduous task of fixing all these seemingly endless glitches

But by jove I respect you for it

  • I only see the new logo if I select 'Live Updates' from the 'Posts' tab - on all other options it's still the old-style.

  • CTRL+F5 or whatever force refresh on your browser is... will fix that.

And if you're mobile, you may wish to clear your cache.

  • I don't understand the modern world at all...

    Thanks.

  • Did it work?

  • Thank fuck you didn't make it 'LF-gS-s'. I would've banned you.

  • ^^^It did - the initialism is a vast improvement on the really clunky, ugly old wordage.

  • I've increased the size of the text in the menus fractionally.

Whilst this should improve things for mobile users, it's already had some side effects (notably the New Posts and Subscribed Threads links at the bottom of this page.

So later today I will attempt to fix the font sizes throughout the whole site.

  • I like the bigger links at the bottom.
    Don't fix them too quickly

  • me too
can see them without my reading specs
consider the ageing former people Velocio;)

  • I won't, I'll fix everything else by making it larger to match.

The text at the bottom is how big text should be.

    It's size is calculated thus:

    HTML > BODY > FONT-SIZE: 100%.

    That's it.

That's how big text is supposed to be in your browser.

That text, although bolded, is what the vast majority of text on the site should look like.

So... that's my job today. Make the font size == 100% for the majority of text on the site.

It will be a little bit of a culture shock, as we've all slowly purchased bigger and bigger screens at higher resolutions over the years, and don't really comprehend that most text on the web is simply too small.

When I'm done, I'm fairly sure people will complain to say that the text is too large. But 100% of normal size is the right size, not too large... everything else is just too small.

This change will affect the size of text in this post too. Everything that is too small (most text on the site), will be modified.
